Wonderful photos, thanks for sharing your trip.

The 2nd photo with camera pointing skyward is nice. So rarely do I ever see such a sky as blue as this.

The light in the bottom image is much like my own area.

Our modern lifestyle is frequently out of synch with nature. I guess we are in a constant struggle for dominion over our environment and over nature.

Yet, in the Judeo-Christian belief, God gave us harmony with nature and freedom from fear and death.

Whetehr you belief in these things as literal or note, just the very narrative itself is intersting to contrast.

But then again, the sciences speak of natures intrinsic struggles, red in tooth and claw..

Each of these paintings is like a window within a window from the inside.

I like jazz too, more bebop than swing, but it's all good. I enjoy all forms of black music old and new.

sometimes we find the cultures of other people more romantic, as in the love of the beatniks for Zen, and the love of the hippies for the ways of India. The problem with our own culture, is that often, people (with their faults and limitations) seem to get in the way. I'm glad that your meeting with my people left a good taste.

Firstly, I must say it is very nice to see you again friend, and often over these months you have entered my thoughts.

It is funny you should feel this way, because it is very similar to how I am feeling at the moment also. I wrote this lastnight;

Is it the change in seasons that brings about these feelings in us? A change or cessation of routine? Who can say. Here the days are shorter and colder now.

with 35mm you depend on the film to give you the white balance, and so you are more limited. the matrix spotting is good for proper exposure, but that isn't the problem here.

yes, I've found a lot of pleasure in the use of the computer. The transfer from analogic to digital photography was not easy, and took a number of yeasrs as I experimented with different tools and methods, but I think I've pretty much adjusted by now, and am able to enjoy the media without comparing all the time to the old system. I like what you say about your feelings for country and city. It makes sense to me.

I agree with you completely when you say that 'they're part of the profession' and persoanlly I don't mind variety in art even if it's not to my taste - in fact, I believe variety is necessary for a healty and thriving art culture - what I hate however is when people like Damien Hirst make money out of nothing, or worse by ripping off a number of other people, and swagger around declaring themselves to be euquals to the likes of the Old Masters.

PS Love the photograph. Says a lot without trying too hard.

Yes, aside from the synagogues, a lot of public buildings, including schools and community centers were left in tact, but now they are all being destroyed and burnt and looted by people filled with hatred. It is a sad story.

what a waste this was the burning of the buildings, if they had actually thought about this then the buildings could have been used perhaps as housing or new schools, afterall they are just empty buildings. I know what they represented but it just seems a waste by angry people.

believe me, there is so much mis-representation of Israel in the press, that most people who take it seriously end up being terribly boring... I have learned to trust the intuition when communicating with foreigners... though I have to admit that a lot of Israelis believe that "the whole world is aginst us". And to make things just a wee bit harder, we have some 'enlightened' citizens of our own, who have become obsessive about "looking good in the eyes of the world".
